Door Frame Fit Guide
Several have asked if Porta-Hang will fit their door frame. There are some measurements on the “How to Use” page, but this guide will give you specific measurements you can use at home. I created a door frame in my house with many heights of trim as an example. This visual guide will represent most of the door frames out there, whether an apartment, house, or hotel.
Most door frames will fit the range to the right. Hotels and many homes will have trim which is 2-1/2” or 3”. Homes with Craftsman style trim ranges from 3-1/2” to 5” or more. The trim must have a flat ledge on top and be at lease 3/8” thick.
Measure your trim like this. Put a tape measure or ruler on the ledge. This trim for example is 3”. Some doors will have extra material below the trim. In this case there is 1/2” of additional wood below the trim, which is normal. If this additional wood is more than 1/2”, the Porta-Hang may not fit.
Porta-Hang 2.0 made to fit similar small to medium trim found in most homes. Check the fit guide below for details.
