Welcome To The Porta-Hang Athlete Team, Maiza!

Welcome To The Porta-Hang Athlete Team, Maiza!

We’re constantly inspired and captivated by the stories we hear and the dedication we see in so many athletes. We are honored when we can be a part of those journeys and stories in the making. Our ambassador program was created to help these journeys progress, and to make sure these stories get told, again and again.

We are very excited and proud to welcome Maiza Lima to the #PortaGang as our newest ambassador!

Maiza Lima

Maiza captures the spirit of what it is we have set out to do so well - Crush it, on the road, at home, anywhere you need to go - and we couldn’t wait to share her story.

Maiza immigrated from Brazil, to the United States at age 17. Her roots are now in Montana, but spends most of her time on the road chasing rock and adventure. Her motto “Never say no to an adventure” is captured in everything she does. Even when she’s at home pulling on her door hangers you can tell she's getting psyched for the next trip.

From Maiza:

“I started climbing when i was 26 as my first sport and it has been a huge part of my life ever since. I’m 33 years old and currently based in Great Falls, Montana, with my husband.

Although I started climbing big mountains and mountaineering, I’m now mostly a sport climber.

My favorite accomplishment was when I was mentally strong enough to refuse top rope and start leading my own routes. It took a couple of years and a lot of work. I would cry so many times. I’m so proud of myself for pushing through and allowing my mental state to slowly get there.

This year I’m hoping to bolt a few routes and do a bunch of first accents in Montana.

I’m also trying to get a handful of days climbing more traditional routes and learning how to climb cracks with a little more grace.“
